Privacy Policy for BeMuslim (كن مسلما : الصلوات - تسبيح)

We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the BeMuslim app (the "App") uses, why, and the choices you have. The App does not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.

1. Location

The App uses your location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction for your city.

• While using the App: precise location is requested to determine prayer times and Qibla. You can instead choose your city manually without granting location access.
• In the background (optional): when you enable "Update prayer times while travelling" in Settings, the App monitors significant, city-level location changes. If you move to a new city, the App shows a notification asking you to confirm before updating prayer times and alerts. This option is off by default and can be turned off at any time from the App's settings or the device settings.
• Your chosen location is stored only on your device to calculate prayer times and show them in the widget. We do not upload it to servers of our own.

2. Notifications

The App schedules local notifications on your device for prayer and azkar reminders. We also use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send occasional general notifications, which requires a push token that is not linked to your identity.

3. No ads and no tracking

The App shows no ads, does not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not track you across other apps or websites.

4. Analytics and crash reporting

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google to understand how the App is used and to fix crashes. This includes screens viewed, in-app events (such as enabling alerts), device model and OS version, an anonymous app instance identifier, approximate country, and crash logs. This data does not include your name or information that directly identifies you.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

All purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details. The purchase receipt is sent only to Apple's servers to verify the subscription. You can manage or cancel a subscription from your Apple ID settings.

6. Data stored on your device and iCloud sync

Your settings, tasbih counters, chosen city, and calculation method are stored locally on your device and shared only with the App's widget through the App's own app group. We do not upload this data to servers of our own. Deleting the App deletes the data stored on the device.

iCloud sync (subscribers): if you subscribe to the premium version, the phrases you added (with their text and virtue), your favourites, and the phrases shown on the Sebha are saved to your own iCloud account with Apple, so they appear on your other devices and come back if you reinstall the App. Tasbih and istighfar counts are not synced; they stay on each device. Sync is on by default for subscribers and can be turned off at any time from More, Settings, iCloud Sync. This data is stored in your private iCloud space and we cannot access it. Sync does not include your location or prayer settings. To delete this data from iCloud: device Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Storage, Be Muslim.

Mushaf: the last page you read, your "وقفت هنا" bookmark, the ayat you saved (with their names and colours), and your khatma plan and progress are stored on your device. If you are a subscriber with iCloud sync on, your last page, "وقفت هنا" and saved ayat are also saved to your own iCloud account so they appear on your other devices; we cannot access them. The khatma stays on the device where you started it and is not synced. The App does not send what you read to anyone; analytics only record general events (such as opening the Mushaf or changing the frame), never the text or numbers of the ayat.

Zakat calculator data: if you choose to save your zakat data (your amounts, the prices you typed, the calculated result and its date, and the reminder date), it is stored in the Keychain on this device only. It is not copied to iCloud or to backups and is never sent anywhere. It is opened with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode; this check is done by iOS and nothing from it reaches us. You can delete this data at any time from the saved-data screen in the zakat calculator.

7. Data summary and service providers

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with anyone other than the providers listed above.

8. Children

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Your rights and choices

• Turn off location or notification permission in device Settings at any time.
• Turn off background prayer time updates in the App's settings.
• Deleting the App deletes all locally stored data; saved zakat data is deleted from the saved-data screen in the zakat calculator.
• Turn off iCloud sync from More, Settings, iCloud Sync, and delete its data from the iCloud settings on your device.
• To request deletion of analytics data associated with your device, or for any question, contact us at the email below.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when new features are added. The new date is shown at the top of this page, and continued use of the App means you accept the updated version.
